Business In The Community - 'SEEING IS BELIEVING
“Mature… knowledgeable ….amazing…. professional…. confident” were some of the compliments given to our pupils following a prestigious business event “Seeing is Believing” hosted by Glan-y-Môr on Wednesday 20th April 2016.
Staff, pupils and executive guests participated in sessions designed to encourage business to engage with schools. Organisers Business in the Community Cymru chose Glan-y-Môr as a model of excellent practice to showcase the mutual benefits of partnership working.
The event began with inspirational speeches from Headteacher Paul Jones, pupils Charlie Hall and Emily Gregory, followed by a polished presentation from Emily, Wiktoria Swiatkoska and Jennifer Grant.
Business executives then joined our pupils for two activities, STEM Challenge and Speed Networking, when they were grilled by pupils from Years 10 and 11.
Feedback from the organisers said that the event had “a marked impression” on the business guests and “instilled confidence in the young talent we have in Wales.”
We look forward to many more successful links with Business in the Community, Careers Wales and businesses. “Seeing is Believing” gave us the chance to showcase our stunning achievements in Technology and Engineering, which culminated in our winning Young Engineers School of the Year and the Broadcom International Award. It was also an excellent opportunity to broaden the range of exciting experiences for pupils. As usual, they rose to the challenge and delighted us all.
