Flowers In Bloom

On Tuesday 4th August Glan-y-Môr pupils and staff braved the rain to support Pembrey and Burry Port in its bid for the coveted Britain in Bloom Award.  Our contribution was helping to create a new garden on the site of Twm's Cinema.  We explained to the judges how pupils had researched the history of the site as well as suitable plants.  The design of the garden, by Sean Dunne (Year 9) was inspired by film reels.  He also included simple seating based on the old cinema's wooden benches.  The planting scheme includes "95" spelled out in box shrubs, as it is 90 years since the cinema opened in 1920.

Pupils meeting the judges were Opel Tyler (Senior Leader in Year 10) and Katrina Davies (Year 9).  Both are members of our dynamic Eco Committee.
