Girls into STEM Day at Renishaw

Year 8 and 9 girls took part in a Girls into STEM day at Renishaw, Miskin Bridgend today. We are only the second school to visit the new educational facility at the company and it was impressive to see all equipment and resources which will be available for educational workshops. The girls had a great time learning all about the precision engineering that the company are famed for. They also heard from two female role models at the company who spoke about their role within the company. During the afternoon session they took part in a robotics challenge where they had to write a computer programme which moved the robot around a track. Simon Biggs, the Educational officer at Renishaw was extremely impressed with their programming skills, even commenting that they had done better than some of his apprentices!  Winners of the programming challenge were Amber Treharne and Olivia Walters.
