Glan-y-Môr hosted an exciting event today, to showcase our outstanding STEM work and to celebrate the nomination of one of our staff for a national leadership award. Mrs Sue Quirk is a finalist in the 2017 round of Professional Teaching Awards Cymru, in the category "Promoting Collaboration in order to improve learning opportunities”. Our development into a centre of excellent for STEM success, led by Mrs Quirk, was demonstrated through presentations by the Headteacher, Mrs Quirk and pupils. Meetings were held with collaborative partners from primary schools, higher education and industry.
Among the guests supporting the event were colleagues Nicola Morgan and Emile Edwards; Mrs Delyth Goodfellow (Head of Ysgol y Castell) and Amanda Evans (Year 6 teacher); Mr Owain Davies (Amcanu Ltd); Mr Glenn Jones and Mr Kevin Lewis (Coleg Sir Gâr); Mrs Sharon Cole & Mrs Odette Wiliiams (Governors) and Mrs Poulter (Parent). In addition to the information given face-to-face, we were able to present a collection of testimonials praising Mrs Quirk's leadership, the impact of STEM on pupils and the role of the school in shaping national education policy.
