Pupils aim high and achieve Platinum standard in Environmental Education

A team of pupils from Year 7 - 10 have helped Glan-y-Môr to achieve the Platinum Flag.  This coveted European standard can only be reached if the school has already won 3 Green Flags and can demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of its eco policies.  The pupils achieved the award by reviewing and improving 8 areas such as minimising waste, water, transport, healthy lifestyles, Litter, Energy, School Grounds and Global Citizenship. They presented lots of evidence and gave a 40 minute presentation in which the whole group took part.  We are particularly proud of the clean and safe condition of our school and improving Glan-y-Môr's energy efficiency rating from amber to GREEN.  We are the first secondary school in Carmarthenshire to achieve this award, which reflects the commitment and passion of the team and the whole-school support for environmental education.
