Pupils take part in Sumdog Competition

The Maths Department at Glan-y-Môr was delighted with the recent achievements of a number of our Key Stage 3 pupils in the recent Sumdog contest for schools across Carmarthenshire. It ran between Friday, November 25th and Thursday, December 1st 2016. 36 classes across the county qualified and a total of 774 pupils took part in the contest. 4 of our classes secured places in the Top Ten Classes on Sumdog's Leader-board which was a brilliant achievement, with 8M coming 5th out of 36 by the end of the contest. 7G/Ma1, taught by Mr Devoran Cross, were Daily Winners on the very first day of the contest and huge congratulations must go to Riley Kerr of 7JT and Matthew Pritchard of 8RA who were amongst the Top Ten students across Carmarthenshire by the end of the contest, coming 8th and 4th respectively out of 774 pupils!

Mr R Allen, Sumdog Coordinator at the school, said "the Sumdog contests always prove very popular with our Key Stage 3 pupils and I am so proud of the way in which they rose to the challenge in the recent Carmarthenshire contest. Strengthening their numeracy skills through the medium of computer games, with the added element of healthy competition, is giving our pupils increased confidence and hopefully enhancing their level of success in the subject as a whole. Congratulations to past and present winners and we now look forward to future county and national contests!"
