Remembrance Assembly 2019
"Glan-y-Môr as a school and a community came together today to remember those who had sacrificed themselves to preserve our way of life and liberties. The school welcomed distinguished guests from the local community and were, once again, indebted to representatives from the Royal British Legion, the Territorial Army, the Cadets, the Mayor, Counsellors from Pembrey & Burry Port Town Council and representatives from our federated Governing Body.
The service was both emotional and powerful and it was most encouraging that so many pupils and staff took part. Highlights of it included:
- Mrs Parry talking about the reasons behind remembrance.
- Readings from Brooke Fox, Deputy Head Boy, as well as Isabel Davies, Deputy Head girl and Harriet Porter, Head Girl.
- A musical performance from Mr Wisby and Mr Cross.
As Morgan Clarke, Head Boy, read the closing prayer, it was clear that the occasion had provided a superb insight into Glan-y-Môr at its best and emphasised the traditions and links with the community that remain so strong.
