Sicily 2026

Day 1 - Trip to the city of Palermo. Pupils had a tour of the city from a local guide and the chance to see the historic buildings, churches and cathedrals as well as the chance to sample local cuisine.

Day 2 - Pupils climbed to an altitude of 1800 metres on a very snowy Mount Etna - the most active volcano on Europe. In the afternoon pupils visited Alcantara gorge and waked through the orange and lemon groves.

Day 3 - Pupils took an early boat to the island of Vulcano - one of the active Aeolian islands. A trek took us up Gran Cratere - the volcano on the island. When we summited pupils could see this living, breathing volcano emitting sulphur and pupils had the chance to take in the views of all the islands such as the famous Stromboli.
