Sumdog Contest 2020

The Sumdog Contest for Carmarthenshire Schools has now ended and Glan-y-Môr School has, yet again, enjoyed great success! A total of 64 classes around Carmarthenshire qualified and two from Glan-y-Môr, 8G and 9 Set 1, made it into the Top Ten, reaching 5th and 8th place respectively.

Of particular note was the fact that, out of the 1098 pupils who took part, 5 pupils from Glan-y-Môr occupied positions in the Top Ten students!

For the second year in a row, Charlotte Lewis-Camm of 8G was the overall winner of the contest, which is an awesome achievement! Tying for 1st place, with the same score, was Charlotte Town of 9 Set 1, with Freya Scully also of 9 Set 1 coming third. Thomas Ashby of 8G and Caleb Harmsworth of 8A secured 6th and 7th place respectively. Mr Richard Allen, Maths Teacher and Sumdog Coordinator at Glan-y-Môr, expressed his huge congratulations to the winners of this term’s contest and his immense pride in the efforts of all those pupils who played along in the week long event. The Maths Department is delighted to see so many of our pupils strengthening their numeracy skills in these voluntary, fun and engaging activities.
