Urdd National Rugby 7's - Wednesday 18th March 2015
Pupils played exceptionally well today and punched well above their weight for the small school that we are.
Year 8 had 50 teams from all over Wales in their competition and narrowly failed to get out of their group despite putting 40 points past both Rhydywaun and Pontllanffraith in comfortable wins, however a try in the last play of the game against Amman Valley prevented us from qualifying having been beaten by Bro Morgannwg by 19-17 in our first game.
Year 10 also had 50 teams in their competition.
We beat Bassaleg 29-12 in our opening game before following up with 3 further victories against Bryntirion, Rhymni and Birchgrove.
This put us at the top of our group for a knockout match with Lewis Pengam.
We started badly and conceded an early try before composing ourselves and we went on to win 19-17.
The Year 10 boys are now in the last ten schools in Wales and will play another four group matches tomorrow at Burry Port. If any staff are free or would be able to pop down in the lunch hour I'm sure they would appreciate the support.
