Year 6 Welcome Day - Wednesday 21st October

Year 6 pupils enjoyed a busy and exciting Welcome Day as part of our Transition programme.  The day included lab work in Science, Maths with ICT, Welsh and Spanish.  After lunch, half the pupils experienced hands-on Design and Technology (Textiles, Food or Graphics), with everyone making something to take home.  English and Drama teachers put another group through their acting paces in an exciting workshop on Shakespeare's Macbeth.

So how did they feel about the day?  A pupil survey on what was memorable praised all the subject workshops, the food (as always) and our Senior Leaders.  We are very proud that 100% said they enjoyed the day, feel safe in Glan-y-Mor and were well looked-after by older pupils. When asked for 3 words to describe the day, Year 6 came up with 36 different ways to say Glan-y-Mor is great, including epic, legendary and memorable, "Immense, class, mega" and "Best, awesome, yummy lunch"!  Top answers from 299 suggestions were Fun (78 mentions), Amazing (38 mentions) and Awesome (34 mentions).

Our wonderful Senior Leaders supported Year 6 all day and stayed on for the Parents' Meeting to act as Tour Guides and give their views of Glan-y-Mor from a pupil's perspective.

Congratulations to all the staff, including our guests from primary schools and senior pupils on an excellent event.  Returning the compliments. Year 6 were also fun, amazing and awesome!
