Year 7 Welcome Service

A very special welcome for our new Year 7 pupils.
On Friday, our new Year 7 pupils took a short walk from Glan-y-Môr to Elkington Road Chapel – but in many ways, it was a journey back to where part of our school story began.
Over 100 years ago, children from Burry Port attended school within these very walls. During our visit, pupils heard extracts from the original school logbook, including tales of the great snow of 1926 – and the extraordinary day in 1928 when Amelia Earhart arrived in Burry Port aboard the Friendship following its Atlantic crossing.
Most importantly, we reflected on what makes a school more than simply a building: the people!
Many of our pupils are following parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents who attended Glan-y-Môr. For others, this week marks the very beginning of their Glan-y-Môr story.
It was a lovely opportunity to pause during a busy first week, celebrate our local history and remind our newest pupils that they are now part of teulu and cymuned Glan y Môr. The Glan y Môr family and community.
Welcome/croeso to the Glan-y-Môr family, blwyddyn 7.  A very proud Mrs Davies.
